A letter from Rev. Alan, the Churchwardens and the PCC

Timetable for re-opening St. John’s church building for worship

Let me start by thanking you all for your support during this most challenging time. We as a church family have continued to worship online with growing numbers throughout this time, so thank you.
Thank you, also, to everyone who completed our online questionnaire regarding our greatly anticipated return to church for public worship. Your views have been listened to and helped shape the PCC discussion and resulting timetable set out below. We realise our plan will not reflect the hopes of everyone, but it does represent the concerns of the majority, and our need to do this in a safe way. May I also add that our plan is subject to the virus continuing to decrease in impact, and subject to all safety requirements being followed at the time.

PHASE 1 - Sunday 12th July - 30th August

  • Our church will continue to worship online via Zoom 10.30am on Sunday mornings with a YouTube alternative also available.

PHASE 2 - Sunday 6th September - 25th October

  • 9:45am - Families/children worship in church - 30-45 mins, music, fun, bible relevant teaching, activities, prayer. Limited to families ONLY.
  • 11am - St. John’s main Sunday Service in church. We hope singing will be allowed by this time, but other measures like social distancing, good hygiene, face masks and no books, may still be in place. (service will be live streamed for those still shielding or uncertain about returning to public worship)

PHASE 3 - Sunday 1st November

  • 9am - Weekly communion service as before the lockdown.
  • 11am - Family Celebration service in St. John’s School with junior church/youth ministry in school rooms as before the lockdown.
  • A service will continue to be live streamed for those still shielding, or those who for different reasons are not able to attend church worship in person.

Please be encouraged at this time and know we are praying for everyone of you on a weekly basis.
